Eligiblity into a Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plan
Upon turning 65 and taking Part B Medicare, you have six months of what is called the “Open Enrollment Period”. Also called a guaranteed issue period. During this time you are eligible for any Medicare Supplemental Insurance plan available with no medical underwriting. This is great for people with pre-existing conditions as they are guaranteed coverage. Medicare Supplemental Insurance is also guaranteed renewable. This means that as long as you pay your monthly premium you can never lose your current Medigap Insurance.
